One of the hottest rages to hit the Indian/Pakistani fashion scene is dresses/suits in lawn. If you're not familiar with lawn, it's a type of cotton or combined linen in a plain weave which is crease resistant and has a silky feel. Bright colours, prints and long flowing fabrics are what lawn dresses are all about.
Either worn with pants, salwars, pants or a pajami they are just perfect for the summer time because of the light weight fabric. Very little embroidery on the fabric. It's more about prints and patterns. If you love that, then lawn is for you. Mainly lawn dresses have long sleeves but I have seen a few with one sleeve or halter necks, the styles are limitless. What I adore about them the most is that they are super long and can be worn on many different occasions! Why not just wear the kameez part with a pair of cute sandals to the beach? A maxi dress / long kaftan dress in an instant! How chic!
The patterns are pretty eye catching so minimal jewelery is key. The perfect way to accessorize is with simple earrings or traditions jhumkis. If it has long sleeves then you won't need churiyan so just put on on a gorgeous cocktail ring instead.
I love these pictures from Nomi Ansari's Lawn 2012 Spring Summer collection for girls. Reminds me of high tea with a Desi twist! Instead of hats we have dupattas. :) Enjoy lovelies!
