At a press conference to announce the line-up of designers of India Bridal Week (to be held between September 23-27 in Mumbai), Vijay Singh the organiser of the event, and Vivek Kumar, of Aamby Valley, the sponsors spoke about what couture is to the world, bridal is to India, and how it makes so much sense to organise a Fashion Week dedicated to the bridal segment.

While the designer showcase at last year’s India Bridal Week was not-so-impressive we’re looking forward to a much better showcase this year—thanks to the participation by Trousseau king Tarun Tahiliani (the grand finale designer), and the grand dame of Indian couture Pallavi Jaikishan. More than anything we can’t wait to see what Falguni and Shane Peacock will present here. In the last few months the husband-wife duo has been making big news, thanks to the edgy dresses they’re creating for international stars. Will they lend a rather edgy touch to their bridal wear too, making it refreshingly different from those created by many other designers?
